Sgt. Don Parks receives "Outstanding Service to the Community Award"
Sept 24, 2002: BEDFORD, VA - Sgt. Don Parks, Supervisor of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office Reserve Senior Volunteer Patrol, also known as R.S.V.P. received the "Outstanding Service to the Community award" presented by the Fincastle, (VA), Resolutions Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution during their awards luncheon in Roanoke, VA, September 17th, 2002.
Sgt. Parks, a retired Corrections Officer, is one of the founding members of the RSVP program which is sponsored by the Bedford County Sheriff's Office. The RSVP assists County Deputies in numerous duties including patrolling shopping centers, property checks, vehicle inspection compliance, traffic control and other special duties throughout the county.
"The entire RSVP team has been a great asset to this county" says Sheriff Mike Brown. "With the leadership of Sgt. Parks and a very dedicated team of 14 RSVP members, this agency is able to better serve all areas of this very large county." "I salute the efforts of Sgt.
