Investigator Byrne Named Deputy of the Month

Capt. Mike Miller presents the Deputy of the Month award for March 2003 to Investigator Collin ByrneBedford, VA – Sheriff Mike Brown is proud to announce the Deputy of the Month for March 2003 is Inv. Collin Byrne.

Investigator Byrne was assigned a home invasion case in Bedford County, where two armed subjects entered a residence and attacked the occupant of the home.

This Investigator, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1998 and was promoted into the Investigative division in 2001, was assigned to the case and immediately publicized the incident on Crime Stoppers.

Byrne received a tip from an Amherst county resident and after following up on the lead that same evening, he was able to apprehend one of the suspects who later confessed to the crime and directed Investigator Byrne to his accomplice who was also apprehended.

In an unrelated case, Byrne has obtained confessions in a highly publicized property damage case which occurred earlier this year in the Forest recreation area.

Thank you, Investigator Byrne, for another job well done.
