Press Release

Sheriff Brown Names Deputy Michelle Hayes Deputy of the Month

Bedford, VA – Sheriff Brown is pleased and proud to announce this Deputy of the Month is Deputy Michelle Hayes. A report came in to State police of an abandoned BMW found on a muddy side road on private property in Moneta. The tags were run, however, there was no indication that the vehicle was stolen. Dep. Hayes was not satisfied with the status of the vehicle, considering the cost of such a car and its abandoned location. She contacted the landowner and had him request that the car be towed from his property.

The next day, the garage, which was storing the vehicle, discovered that the car was indeed reported stolen out of Roanoke City. It is speculated by this department that the vehicle probably would have been stripped and/or destroyed had it not been for her perseverance.

Thanks to the inquisitiveness of Deputy Hayes the vehicle was returned to it’s rightful owner, unscathed. Congratulations on a job well done.
