Press Release
Deputy Richard Boswell Named Deputy of the Month
Bedford, VA – Sheriff Mike Brown announced the award for Deputy of the Month is Deputy Richard Boswell, a six-year veteran of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
His Road Sergeant, Ben Rea, nominated Boswell for his exceptional performance during a potentially volatile situation involving many suspects as well as many victims. By utilizing his communication skills as well as his quick thinking, he was able to coordinate the other county units to search for those who left the scene of a crime. His actions led to the arrest of several subjects and the case was cleared.
Deputy Boswell was also instrumental in solving numerous property damage cases in the Vinton area. Reports of mailbox vandalisms, all occurring on the same evening, were immediately investigated by Boswell. This enabled him to identify several juvenile suspects who were interviewed and soon after, they confessed. Numerous charges were placed for these crimes.
This exemplifies hard work and dedicated effort continually demonstrated by Deputy Boswell. Job well done.
