BCSO Recieves $25,000 Congressional Earmark Grant through DOJ
Sheriff Brown and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference this morning to announce the receipt of a $25,000 Congressional earmark grant funded through the U.S. Department of Justice.
Congressmen Goode and Goodlatte attended the conference to personally present Sheriff Mike Brown with this award, which will be utilized to purchase in-car video cameras for patrol vehicles.
Currently, Bedford County Sheriff’s Deputies have 8 vehicles equipped with in-car cameras. This new funding will allow for the purchase of 7 additional cameras, bringing the total of camera equipped cruisers up to 15, 50% of the agency’s fleet.
Sheriff Brown will continue to pursue funding opportunities in the future to eventually equip every vehicle with this technology that is imperative to officer safety.
