Sheriff's Office Announces Participation in State-Wide Seat Belt Blitz
Bedford, VA – Bedford County Sheriff Mike Brown, is please to announce the participation of Bedford County in the statewide effort of promoting seat belt usage and enforcing speed limits this holiday weekend.
As part of the “Buckle Up Bedford” campaign that was launched this week, and in cooperation with Virginia’s event, “Click It Or Ticket”, Sheriff’s Deputies will be teaming up with Bedford City Police and VA State Police to step-up enforcement throughout our area. Law enforcement from Giles to Norfolk counties will be working together to strongly enforce speed limits and promote seatbelt usage.
“The announcement I would like to make to the public is, be sure you’re obeying the speed limit and are properly buckled up”, warns Sheriff Brown, “And don’t forget the little ones. Children need to be properly secured in child safety seats whenever traveling”.
Sheriff Brown urges parents to stop by the Bedford Wal-Mart parking lot for a free child safety seat inspection. “Improperly installed child seat are more common than parents wish to know. Unfortunately they don’t realize the error until something tragic happens”, says Sheriff Brown.
