Substance, to wit, Heroin.
NO BOND ON BOTH SUBJECTS
Seized: Seven (7) long guns, two
pistols, and 57 hits of Heroin
Information received alleged that
Mr. and Mrs. LEONARD are key Heroin dealers in Bedford County,
primarily in the western part of the county and our investigation of
these two subjects has been ongoing for a number of months.
Heroin usually appears as a white
or brown powder. Street names for heroin include "smack," "H," "skag,"
and "junk." Other names may refer to types of heroin produced in a
specific geographical area, such as "Mexican black tar."
Heroin abuse is associated with
serious health conditions, including fatal overdose, spontaneous
abortion, collapsed veins, and, particularly in users who inject the
drug, infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
While the amount seized is not
overly large for other parts of this country, it is significant to
Bedford County. In this regard, the sheriff’s office will continue
to be proactive and aggressive in this enforcement effort.
