BCSO Recognized by Domestic Violence

In June, five Deputies, and
Lieutenant Darryl Saunders, were presented awards by Bedford
Domestic Violence Services. Connie St. John, Director of Bedford
Domestic Violence Services, was present as Virginia Attorney General
Robert McDonnell presented the fourth annual Law Enforcement
Appreciation Day Awards.
Deputies Chip Dean, Winston Thurman, Christian Stoneman, Brian Neal,
and Corporal David Coughlan were commended for their very
professional assistance during several different domestic violence
situations to which they responded.
Lieutenant Darry Saunders received special recognition from Ms. St.
John, for his actions during a particularly difficult situation,
involving collaboration in a domestic violence cases.
Sheriff Brown, who feels particularly strong about the importance of
family unity, as evidenced by his nationally recognized efforts on
behalf of internet crimes against children, said at a recent
gathering, “We are blessed to have Deputies and leaders who
recognize the importance of responding immediately to domestic
violence situations, and conducting themselves to ensure resolution
of the problems, and prosecution where appropriate.”
The State’s Attorney General has come to Bedford to present the
annual awards, since their inception in 2004.
