On August 7, 2007, Gregory D. Burton of
Bedford County was arrested by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office,
Child Sexual Abuse Specialists, for the sexual abuse of six (6)
children, all under the age of thirteen. The sheriff’s office is
being assisted by the Department of Social Services.
All related charges occurred over a one to five year period of
time, with the latest incidents occurring within the last month.
Burton is charged with thirty-one (31) counts of sex related charges
(28 counts of Forcible Sodomy and 3 counts of Aggravated Sexual
Battery) on (male and female) juveniles that were all known by the
subject, and sometimes visitors in his residence.
A computer and related equipment was seized and is being
processed by Southern Virginia ICAC Task Force personnel.
Burton is listed as residing at 4489 Dickerson Mill Road in
Bedford.
Investigation continues.

The maximum sentence for each of the Forcible Sodomy charges, if
found guilty, is 5 years to life
The maximum sentence for each of the Aggravated Sexual Battery,
if found guilty, is 1 to 20 years
