Bedford Drivers to Get Child Seat Check
As shoppers were taking advantage of the sales on
November 23rd, law enforcement officers in Bedford gave parents a chance to take advantage of a free child safety seat checkpoint.
The Bedford Police Department, in conjunction with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a free seat check at the Wal-Mart in Bedford on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
More than 80 percent of all child safety seats are installed incorrectly, which can lead to injury or death in a car crash, said Bedford City Police Chief Jim Day.
“We would like to encourage parents, grandparents and caregivers to take a few moments out of the day to have their child’s safety seat checked,” Day said. “It will give them peace of mind knowing their child is traveling safer during this holiday season.”
