Sheriff Brown Welcomes New Graduates
The Holiday Inn Select Ballroom, Lynchburg, was the site of the 70th graduating class of the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy. A total of 41 students from all over Central Virginia graduated on the evening of December 12, 2007.

Sheriff Mike Brown is proud to announce his newest certified Deputies joining the BCSO family: Deputy Steve Anders, Deputy Jeremy Gardner, and Deputy Jonathan Jackson.
Deputy Steve Anders, a graduate of New Hampshire Technical College, served our country as a U.S. Marine. Anders came to Bedford County Sheriff’s Office as an Animal Control officer in 2006 and is now a fully certified Road Officer.
Deputy Gardner was a Bedford County 9-1-1 Dispatcher early in his career before joining the U.S. Marines and serving our country for four years. Upon his return, he served as a Corrections Officer for the Southwest Regional Jail Authority. Deputy Gardner joined the Sheriff’s office in July 2007 and is now fully certified as a Road Officer.
Deputy Jonathan Jackson is a Virginia Tech graduate who came to the Sheriff’s office from his previous career with the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority in Moneta, where he served as a Corrections Officer. Deputy Jackson is now a fully certified Road Officer.
All three deputies will complete their training on active duty with a BCSO Field Training Officer for a minimum of 100 hours before being assigned to a permanent shift.
On a special note, Sheriff Brown is extremely pleased to announce that Deputy Anders has been awarded the Academic Award of Excellence for having the highest grade point average in this graduating class of 41 bright cadets.
