Authorities Identify Thaxton Shooting Victim

THAXTON, VA - Authorities have identified the man shot at a Thaxton home Wednesday night.

Jesse Glenn Phillips, 44, was shot as he entered a house at 1757 Thaxton School Road, police said. Bedford County 911 dispatchers received a call at 10:36 p.m. saying Phillips had been shot, authorities said.

No one was in the house, which Phillips was visiting, when the shooting happened. Phillips walked to a neighboring house, where a person called police. Phillips was shot several times. He was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Bedford County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the origins of the gunfire.
